Get paid to put robots on people's lawns
We sell self-driving mowers the old-fashioned way — a knock, a real conversation, and a robot demo in the backyard. It's the most fun you can have in sales, and it is absolutely, unapologetically a sales job. Door-to-door. Commission. Sunshine. Robots.
Why this beats every other first sales job
The fine print, in big print
Most job ads hide this part. We're leading with it.
- This is door-to-door sales. You knock on strangers' doors. That is the job. Everything else is support for the knock.
- You will hear "no." A lot. Twenty no's before a yes is a normal day, not a bad one. If rejection follows you home, this will be a miserable job.
- Robots are not light. Demo units weigh 20–30 lbs. You'll carry one across yards, up porch steps, and in and out of a vehicle — many times a week.
- Weather is part of the deal. July heat, surprise rain, the occasional glorious 72° day. The lawn doesn't come to you.
- Pay follows performance. This is commission-driven work. Great for people who want their effort to show up in their paycheck; wrong for people who don't.
If that list made you tired — no shame, most people aren't built for it. If it made you a little competitive… keep scrolling.
A Saturday on the team
- 8:30a Pick up your demo robot and territory route. Coffee optional, sunscreen not.
- 9:00a Knock. The goal at the door isn't a sale — it's a booked backyard demo. Short, friendly, honest.
- 12:30p Demo time: the robot mows a stranger's lawn while you answer "okay but how does it not hit the flower bed?" This is where deals actually happen.
- 4:00p Log your leads and follow-ups. The "maybe in the spring" from three weeks ago is worth real money if you treat it right.
Some Saturdays end with multiple sales. Some end with zero and sore feet. Both happen — the sellers who last are the ones who show up the same either way.
What we need from you
- 18 or older
- Able to lift and carry a 20–30 lb robot across a yard and up porch steps (with or without reasonable accommodation)
- Comfortable working outdoors, summer heat included
- A reliable way to get to your territory (PA, MD, DE, VA, CO)
- Genuinely curious about robots — you'll be asked "how does that thing work?" fifty times a week
- Not afraid of a stranger's front door
The 5-minute screener
Here's the truth: most people aren't salespeople, and that's fine — but finding out in five minutes beats finding out in five weeks. No trick questions. Pick the answer closest to what you'd actually do, not the one that sounds impressive.
Can't check all five honestly? We'd rather you know now than in week two — and we mean that kindly. This job is very specific.
Questions people actually ask
Do I need sales experience?
No. The screener measures instincts — grit, honesty, curiosity, how you treat people at their own front door. The craft (scripts, demos, follow-up) we teach. Plenty of great sellers started here with zero experience; very few great sellers started with none of the instincts.
Is this really door-to-door?
Yes, really. There are demos, events and referrals too, but the knock is the engine of this job. If knocking on a stranger's door sounds like a dealbreaker, we'd rather tell you now than surprise you in week two.
What does it pay?
Commission-driven — you're paid to sell, and the ceiling is yours to set. We walk through the exact plan on the phone call, first conversation, no games. Call or text 410-725-7500 if you want the numbers before you even take the screener.
Where are the territories?
Sales territories follow our install crews: Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Colorado. You'll work neighborhoods near you — you need a reliable way to get to your territory.
What happens after I submit?
Your name, contact and answers land directly with our hiring team the moment you hit submit, and we reply within 2 business days to set up a short phone call. Fair warning: the call is also part of the interview — if you can hold a good phone conversation with us, that tells us more than any resume. Go well there and the next step is a ride-along with the team. (Texting your result code to 410-725-7500 also counts as applying — and it tends to get noticed.)
How old do I have to be?
18 or older. Beyond that, we don't care what your resume says — we care what you do at the twentieth door.
