Why trees break most robot mowers
Almost every wire-free robot mower navigates with GPS/RTK, and RTK has one hard requirement: the mower has to see the sky. A tree canopy blocks and scatters the satellite signals, so the mower’s centimeter-accurate fix drifts, wanders, or drops out entirely. This isn’t a brand problem — it’s physics. It’s why a shaded, wooded yard stops a satellite-only robot cold, no matter how good the mower is.

When it can use satellites, the LUBA 3 gets centimeter precision through NetRTK over cellular — Mammotion’s iNavi service. Corrections come over the 4G/5G network from a network of fixed reference stations, so there’s no physical antenna base to install on your property. Fewer parts, faster setup.

Do robot mowers work under trees?
Most don't. GPS/RTK robot mowers need a clear view of the sky, and a tree canopy blocks the satellites — so they drift or stop. The exception is a mower with LiDAR: the Mammotion LUBA 3 navigates off a 3D map of the physical world (trees, ground, structures), so it keeps working under cover where satellite-only mowers fail.
Why can't an RTK robot mower handle a shaded yard?
RTK gets centimeter accuracy by comparing satellite signals against a reference — but the mower still has to SEE the satellites.
